Michigan State Senator Aric Nesbitt took to social media on August 21, 2025, to criticize Governor Gretchen Whitmer for her international travel while the state budget remains unresolved.
In a post made at 3:44 p.m., Nesbitt stated, “Still no state budget, yet Governor Whitmer is going on another international trip.”
Later that afternoon at 4:30 p.m., he added, “Amazing how @GovWhitmer has all this time and money for international travel yet she can’t come up with a roads plan or call a special election.”
At 5:13 p.m., Nesbitt posted a brief message referencing his earlier criticism: “Period.”
The ongoing absence of an approved state budget has been a source of political tension in Michigan.
