City of Madison Heights issued the following announcement on July 9.
Michigan is an open primary state, meaning you do not have to be registered to a party in order to vote in the primary. However, when you vote in the August 4th election, you must confine your votes to a single party column. Stay in your lane!!! Splitting the ticket (voting for more than one party) will invalidate that portion of the ballot.
