Berkley School District issued the following announcement on Aug 3.
There are a number of significant changes that took place this summer in our District and school leadership team. Meghan Ashkanani, Principal at Pattengill Elementary for the past four years, accepted the position of Director of Teaching, Learning, and Technology this July. Meghan will lead these departments as well as oversee grants, assessments and technology Sinking Fund initiatives. She has hit the ground running and is happy to serve the District in a new role.
I’m pleased to announce Shamika Womble was selected as the new Principal at Pattengill Elementary effective August 10, 2021. Mrs. Womble has served the District as an Assistant Principal at Berkley High School for the past three years. Mrs. Womble was selected from a candidate pool of 70 applicants. She is incredibly excited to take on this new leadership role and serve the District in a new capacity. Please join me in congratulating Mrs. Womble on her new position.
I’m equally pleased to announce that effective August 10, 2021, Evelyn Coleman will become a new Assistant Principal at Berkley High School. Ms. Coleman comes to Berkley Schools from Chandler Park Academy in Harper Woods where she worked for the past twelve years. She served as their Director of Teaching and Learning, having previously served in the roles of English teacher, Assistant Principal, and Co-Principal. Ms. Coleman was recently hired as the Berkley Schools Student and Family Support Coordinator, and then was appointed to the BHS Assistant Principal position. Please join me in welcoming Ms. Coleman to Berkley High School and the Berkley Schools family.
We have two additional administrative positions to announce as well. Stacie Angel, current Instructional Support Specialist for the Teaching and Learning Team, has been appointed to the Supervisor of Instructional Services position. Stacie has been with the Berkley School District for 23 years as an English teacher, middle school counselor and an instructional coach. Kaitlin Eickemeyer was selected as the new Norup International School Assistant Principal. Kaitlin has been with the Berkley School District for the last nine years as a school psychologist, most recently at Norup and Burton. Last year, Ms. Eickemeyer was also the Interim Assistant Principal at Norup for the second half of the school year. Congratulations to both Ms. Angel and Ms. Eickemeyer on their new positions.
Please join me in congratulating our new administrators in their new positions with the Berkley School District.
