BHS Students Paint Windows in Downtown Berkley

Berkley School District issued the following announcement on Dec 13.

The Berkley Downtown Development Authority (DDA) began working with a window artist this year to bring cheer to store fronts this fall. Lisa Littell, the artist, reached out to Berkley Schools to see if any students were interested in helping her transition the storefronts from Halloween to the winter holiday season.

Working through Stefanie Coburn, BHS art teacher, Ms. Littell trained students on how to begin a window design, as well as guided them on painting tips and best practices. Students learned how to clean a design from a window (from Halloween) and how to transform it to fit the new season. Mrs. Coburn said, “The feedback was awesome, Lisa made it really fun and the kids were very engaged in the learning. The high schoolers did a great job practicing that first day and Lisa will continue working with a couple students at a time over the next months.”

Students have worked in small groups with Ms. Littell for the last couple of weeks to bring the artwork to life. You can see their work as you drive down Coolidge and 12 Mile Rd.
