From trash to treasure: thanks to Ferndale zero-waste coordinator Claire Dion's 'upcycling' class through the Ferndale Area District Library, the city's old ballot boxes have been given fresh new identities and homes.
These old metal election ballot boxes, which once would have been bound for the dumpster, were given to residents as a part of Claire's workshop. Fresh paint + creativity turned them into decorative storage boxes, creepy Halloween candy boxes, and more. Now they'll be used and displayed instead of spending the rest of their lives in a landfill.
