Senator Aric Nesbitt, a Republican representing Michigan in the state senate, made several statements on his X (formerly Twitter) account between October 21 and 22, 2025. His posts addressed themes of resistance to violence, endorsement of others' views, and comparisons between Florida and Michigan's performance metrics.

On October 21, Nesbitt wrote: "We will NEVER SURRENDER to those who think they can control us through violence and fear." This statement appeared amid ongoing political debates in Michigan about public safety and community responses to crime.

Later that evening, Nesbitt posted another message: "Couldn’t have said it better." The post did not elaborate further but was linked to a previous tweet.

On October 22, Nesbitt criticized Michigan’s performance compared to Florida’s in several areas. He stated: "Florida is currently beating Michigan by almost every measure. Instead of lecturing them on how to vote, maybe you should be taking notes. When you’re done with your vacation, you should make a pit stop in Michigan and do something about these test scores:" The tweet referenced educational outcomes and ongoing discussions about school performance in Michigan.

Nesbitt has been an advocate for education reform and has previously commented on standardized test results within the state. According to recent reports from the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), Florida students have outperformed their peers in Michigan across several subjects in recent years.

The senator's remarks come at a time when education policy is under scrutiny in Michigan, with lawmakers debating strategies to improve student achievement and address disparities across districts.
