City of Huntington Woods recently issued the following announcement.
On Monday, August 2, annual maintenance of city fire hydrants will begin.
DPW will be starting in the Woodward and Eleven Mile area and moving south and west for a period of two to three weeks. Fire hydrants will be inspected and flushed, which may stir up sediment and cloud or discolor your water, and can affect homes for a couple of blocks around the hydrant being flushed.
Residents should avoid doing laundry until after 3:00 pm during this time, as white or light items could be permanently stained.
After hydrant flushing occurs, residents should turn on the cold water tap nearest to their meters (such as a basement laundry tub or exterior hose) and let it run for about five minutes until clear.
The DPW will update its progress weekly. Please call 248-547-1888 between 7am and 3pm with any questions.
