Senator Aric Nesbitt, a Republican representing Michigan's 20th Senate District, used his social media platform on September 3 and 4, 2025, to comment on several state policy issues. His posts addressed road funding, government accountability, and immigration.

On September 3, Nesbitt wrote: "Folks in Michigan are done with the excuses. House Republicans have a plan to fix the roads WITHOUT raising taxes. If Senate Dems care about helping people make it in Michigan instead of playing games we can get the job could be DONE." This statement follows ongoing debates in Michigan over how to address infrastructure needs without increasing tax burdens for residents.

The next day, Nesbitt called for increased scrutiny of state spending under Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s administration. On September 4 he posted: "It’s time to root out the waste, fraud and abuse at Whitmer’s MEDC and the entire state government. Line by line. Department by department. We WILL get answers." The Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) has faced criticism from some lawmakers who argue for greater transparency and oversight regarding its economic initiatives.

In another post later that morning, Nesbitt commented on immigration policy in the state: "We need to make our state a ‘safe zone’ for the people of Michigan, not illegal immigrants." This message reflects broader national discussions around state-level responses to federal immigration policies.

Nesbitt’s comments come amid ongoing legislative debates in Lansing over infrastructure funding methods and calls for more rigorous reviews of public expenditures across departments. The conversation about making Michigan a "safe zone" aligns with positions taken by other lawmakers who advocate prioritizing resources for citizens rather than undocumented immigrants.
