Senator Aric Nesbitt, a Republican member of the Michigan Senate, recently used his Twitter account to comment on several topics ranging from state government spending to infrastructure and public figures.

On July 24, 2025, Nesbitt criticized Governor Gretchen Whitmer's use of public funds for international travel. He wrote, "JUST IN: Gretchen Whitmer spent over $200,000 taxpayer dollars to go with her MEDC friends to Australia. It appears she’s trying to set the record for waste, fraud, and abuse." The trip referenced by Nesbitt involved Governor Whitmer and officials from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) traveling to Australia. According to media reports, such trade missions are intended to promote economic partnerships but have faced scrutiny regarding their costs and transparency.

Later that day, Nesbitt acknowledged the passing of a well-known figure in entertainment. On July 24, 2025, he stated: "We’ve lost another legend today. We will never forget the decades of entertainment and full throttle patriotism he shared with us all. Rest in peace Hulk Hogan." Hulk Hogan was a prominent professional wrestler whose career spanned several decades.

The following day, on July 25, 2025, Nesbitt addressed road funding in Michigan. He tweeted: "Only 67% of taxes paid at the pump in Michigan goes toward fixing the roads. It’s time to pass the House roads plan so that we can make it 100% and start ACTUALLY fixing the roads." Currently in Michigan, a portion of fuel tax revenue is allocated to non-road purposes such as public transit or administrative costs. Proposed legislation aims to direct all gas tax revenue exclusively toward road repair and maintenance.

Nesbitt has been an active voice in debates about state fiscal policy and infrastructure funding during his tenure in the Michigan Senate.
