Senator Aric Nesbitt, a Republican member of the Michigan Senate, shared several posts on his X (formerly Twitter) account between August 30 and August 31, 2025. His tweets touched on education policy, regional sports rivalry, and political sentiment.

On August 30, Nesbitt commented on educational standards and recent policy changes in Michigan: "Shocker. Lowering standards, repealing reading laws, and locking our kids out of school for a year doesn’t help improve scores." This statement follows ongoing debates within the state about how modifications to academic requirements and responses to pandemic-related school closures have impacted student achievement.

Later that day, Nesbitt referenced the longstanding football rivalry between Michigan and Ohio with a lighthearted post: "Once again, it’s that special time of year where we get to remind everyone how much better Michigan is than Ohio. GO BLUE!" The "GO BLUE" slogan refers to support for the University of Michigan's athletic teams.

On August 31, Nesbitt posted a brief message reflecting political satisfaction: "This is what we voted for. "

Nesbitt has been an active figure in state politics. As Senate Republican Leader in Michigan as of early 2024, he has frequently addressed issues such as education reform and public policy decisions during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. The debate over reading laws referenced in his tweet concerns legislative efforts that previously required students who were not proficient in reading by third grade to be held back—a measure which was recently repealed by state lawmakers.
