Senator Aric Nesbitt, a Michigan state legislator, posted a series of statements on his social media account addressing recent national security and state governance issues.

On September 2, 2025, Nesbitt referenced an incident involving former President Donald Trump and actions against drug trafficking. He quoted Trump as saying, “THERE’S MORE WHERE THAT CAME FROM”. in response to the destruction of a Venezuelan drug boat.

Later that day, Nesbitt issued another statement regarding border security and drug enforcement: “If you try to bring poison into our country it will NOT end well for you.”

On September 3, 2025, Nesbitt shifted focus to state-level concerns about the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC). He wrote: “So the director of MEDC fails to enforce financial disclosure rules for YEARS, allows $20 million to flow to Whitmer’s friends, and Whitmer’s response is to take him on vacation to Japan? Doesn’t seem like she’s ‘very troubled’ with his performance.”

The MEDC has faced scrutiny in recent years over its oversight practices and transparency requirements. The organization is responsible for job creation and economic growth initiatives in Michigan. Governor Gretchen Whitmer has previously been criticized by political opponents regarding her administration's handling of economic development funds and relationships with agency officials.
