Senator Aric Nesbitt, a member of the Michigan State Senate, posted several tweets on September 3, 2025, criticizing Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s handling of infrastructure issues and state spending.

In his first post, Nesbitt wrote: "The people of Michigan gave Gretchen Whitmer 7 years and every tool she needed to get the job done. She chose to squander it on shady deals and wasted spending. Now once again, she's dangling the carrot promising better roads, but ONLY if she can raise our taxes again. The https://t.co/pUGvxVBSJr" (September 3, 2025).

Later that day, Nesbitt referenced Whitmer's campaign promises over multiple election cycles: "Whitmer 2018: “I have a plan to fix the damn roads!” Whitmer 2022: “I need more time to fix the roads.” Whitmer 2025: “We need to come up with a plan to fix the roads.” Does she really expect people to believe her?" (September 3, 2025).

He also posted a brief message linking out for further context: "This https://t.co/twVsbEHIwp" (September 3, 2025).

Nesbitt has been an outspoken critic of Governor Whitmer’s fiscal policies during her administration. Since taking office in January 2019, Governor Whitmer has prioritized infrastructure improvements in Michigan, repeatedly calling for increased funding—often through proposed tax hikes—to address road conditions statewide. The debate over Michigan's road funding has been ongoing for several years and remains a central issue in state politics.
